I want to share with you 6 life lessons from my 6 year fertility journey.
Today is my littlest human’s first birthday.
I’m a bit emotional. Mostly relief. A lot of gratitude. Also some thank f*ck that’s over.
Because you know that marathon you’re on that feels like it will never end?
Well I’ve just reached the finish line.
I can hands down say this has been the best and the worst years of my life.
If I’m honest, it’s been a crazy ride and it’s changed the entire direction of my life, to the point where I coach women in the sh*t storm of infertility for a living!
I’ve learned a lot and discovered so many things about life and myself. So here it is folks, 6 life lessons from my 6 year fertility journey.

Everything takes longer than you expect
If you’re reading this now, you’re no doubt starting to realise, that falling pregnant wouldn’t be a walk in the park. So I bet you’ve reassessed your targets, and the bad news is, you’ll need to reassess again, because I know it will take longer than that. There will be hiccups and hurdles and more bad news, and it’s just part and parcel of it all but hang in there. You aren’t alone.
2. Everyone has mess in their lives. This is yours.
Everyone has mess in their lives. It may not be fertility-related, but everyone goes through crappy times in their lives, and this is your crappy time. Own it. It’s part of the privelage of being alive.
3. Everything is temporary. Even the good stuff.
We go through awful times in our lives. Times that really suck. And infertility for me, felt like I’d set off on a 5 kilometre run and ended up stuck in a marathon with no finish line. But, wherever you are, and whatever rubbish you’re going through in your life. It ends. I promise. And the good stuff will end too. Life is ups and downs and it’s all temporary.
4. Don’t panic until you need to panic.
The stop button, the reassess button, the panic button. We’re so often too quick to push it. When you’re starting to panic, always take a step back and think about whether or not it really IS time to panic, and don’t panic until you really need to.
5. When you feel like you can’t take anymore, you can
You are stronger than you know. There is always more gas in the tank and a second wind, and often when you’re at the brink of giving up, good things happen. Hang in there… just a little longer.
6. Don’t pause life. You only have one.
You only get to do this thing called life once and it’s too short to try and pause life in this pursuit. Keep living it. There is no repeat, no replay and no second chances. Don’t put your life on hold while you’re going through this mess. Keep living it.
