Life After Infertility: Pregnancy Anxiety and Fear is Real

Life After infertility: Pregnancy Anxiety and Rear is RealTrigger Warning: This episode contains references to life after infertility. I will be talking about pregnancy and my experience with pregnancy anxiety and fear. Listener discretion is advised.

Today on the podcast, we’re talking about pregnancy anxiety–I’m once again sharing a little bit about what life after infertility looks like, and about some of the common fears and anxieties that I see play out with our warriors AFTER they fall pregnant, especially if they have experienced a past loss.

I also see a big difference in the way I handled my scary pregnancy vs others in the general public, and how I was able to contain my fear to enjoy my pregnancy, something that many of the warriors in my Intensive program also enjoy.

It’s like I always say, “You can deal with how you manage stress now, or you can deal with it later, but falling pregnant is not the end of the road. There is no end of the road, and if you don’t employ strategies to handle fear, anxiety, ruminating and catastrophizing now, it will follow you into pregnancy and then parenting.”

So even if you are not yet expecting, I think (as with all my Life after Infertility episodes) you’ll absolutely receive benefit from listening.

Key takeaways:

  • Join the IVF + Infertility Pregnancy + Mamas Facebook group
  • If you are pregnant or if you’re a fertility client, never feel shame in calling up your clinic and asking for advice if you think that something is wrong
  • Don’t ever panic, ask an expert and just take things one step at a time
  • Anxiety as a mother is normal but you can’t let it dominate your thoughts or take over your actions. YOu need to take positive and constructive action on your journey.
